I was brought in to the hospital for a suicide attempt (overdose of sleeping pills) from the moment i got there i was treated like a burden, like I was wasting their time and was either ignored completely by nurses or talked to like I was an idiot.Took 6 hours just to the see shrink on at the time which is ridiculous. He told me what I already knew and released me from the hospital like the whole thing was a big waste of his and his staff's time.Never going there again. If you are suicidal and do attempt to kill yourself i recommend not going there and hoping Shellharbour is more sympathetic.Train your staff to treat people with mental illness with compassion instead of making them feel ashamed and like they aren't even human!
From the ambulance paramedics through to the nurses in the Child ward everyone was professional and caring.
My mum was in Wollongong Hospital for a week. They were really nice and friendly. My Mum hates hospitals but said that is the best Hospital she has ever been in. They treated her with respect and dignity.
Worst ever experience my 86year old grandfather had a chest infection, massive pain lump on his private part. wollongong emergency saw him at 6pm and notice he had a high blood temp. So we waited for the doctor, 2am we went to see the nurse at the desk as my pops back wasn't strong enough sitting there for more than 8hrs. Long story short, waited 13hours
Third world hospitals are better than Wollongong.so many people have died on their watch families need answers and good solicitor's to help them with justice
